Popular Walks For Paws Around Noosa

If you’re a dog owner and dog lover, you’ll know some of the more frequented dog friendly areas around Noosa are also more frequented by non-dog loving hoomans. Hard to fathom yes, but here we shout out our faves where there’s more room to roam.

A rocky and vertical hike of about 350m, Mount Ninderry is an adventure dog’s dream come true. It’s a steep mountain hike popular with dog owners as it’s one of the only state parks where dogs are allowed. Because it’s natural bush – with kangaroos – your dog will be kept occupied by all the new smells along the way. Once you reach the top there are two picturesque lookouts, one to the east and one to the west. It’s about 40 minutes return, depending on your fitness level. A water tank is located at the base of the climb to provide water for your dog pre and post walk. Doggy do bags are also provided.

Extremely popular with locals is Beach Access 67 at Pitta St, Peregian Beach. This access is to a wide-open beach that meets Stumers Creek to the south. It’s an off-leash area so there’s lots of room to roam, making this one of our dogs favourite spots. You know when they are that excited that they carry on in the car most/all of the way there… See if you can’t spot a Wolf & I Co. leash on your walk. *winks*

Escape to the spit and you’ll find a secluded Dog Beach out of the wind. With lots of parking and facing west, you’re sure to catch a magnificent sunset over Mt Tinbeerwah while your dog is swimming and splashing in the warm water of the Noosa River.

There's another popular dog beach at Sunshine Beach. You'll find it tucked into the southern end of the Noosa National Park. It's an off leash area and you can access it from the beach access at Seaview Drive where there is a small carpark, tap and toilet etc. This dog friendly area is quite small and can get pretty crowded even without dogs so keep this in mind.

If your dog needs to stretch their legs we can also recommend Weyba Creek Park. This park runs along the Noosa River and is quite shaded so better in summer when you need to beat the heat of the beach. It's an off leash dog friendly area located behind the ovals at the Noosa Farmers Market. There's lots of dogs out and about to make friends with and enough room to play fetch with your favourite ball. Council provide poop bags for dog waste and there's water access as well.

Teeming with dogs of all shapes and sizes, Stumers Creek is a dog’s dream come true. The brackish creek runs into the sea and is a great place for dogs to play. Being an off-leash area, you and your dog can walk north toward Peregian or south toward Coolum, free as a bird. Complete with dog shower station and a borrow box in case you forget their ball or leash, public toilets and plenty of parking you will love heading down to this spot for your daily walk.

Deeper in the hinterland is the Imbil Brooloo Rail Trail which you can walk or ride while your dog walks. Now that’s cool. A 9.6km return track that was actually a rail corridor that has been restored into a gravel track. Perfect for a solid morning walk with your dog in the cooler months of the year.
